README for the HP Database Manager (HPDM) (R2.4)

NOTE: HPDM requires .NET 3.5 runtime and if your PC does not already have the .NET 3.5
runtime, the installer automatically detects and installs the runtime.
Installation Instructions
Installing the HP Database Manager Client
1. Open the HPDatabaseManagerInstaller_<version>.zip using Winzip and double
click on setup.exe and Winzip creates a temp directory and runs the setup for you.
NOTE: If you are installing HPDM on Vista and you are logged on as a non-administrator,
you need to install the files in a non-default location (for example, “C:\user\<your logon
name>\HP Database Manager.” Vista does not allow non-administrators to install files into
the “C:\Program Files” folder.
2. If this is the first time you are using the application, you need to add the systems that you
want to manage.
a. Select the Tools->Systems Tool menu and bring up the Systems Tool dialog.
b. Click on the Add button to bring up the Add System dialog.
c. Enter the Neoview system connection details.
Your Name for System: A name to uniquely identify the system (for example,
SYSTEM_A).
Server Data Source: NDCS server side datasource name (optional).
User Name: Neoview user name (for example, super.services or role.mgr).
Password: Password for the Neoview user.
Host: Host name or the IP address of the Neoview system.
Port Number: Port number on which the NDCS server is listening. The default port
number is 18650.
Default Schema: Default schema to be used if schema is not explicitly specified in your
operations (optional).
Driver: Select the version of HP ODBC driver to use.
d. Test the system definition using the Test button.
e. If the test is successful, click OK to save and add the definition.
3. Once the system definition is added, you should see a navigation tree in the left panel of
the HP Database Manager displaying the system you just added.
4. Expand the navigation tree and select the system to manage.
