README for the HP Neoview Command Interface (NCI) (Upd1 R2.3 SP2)

Installation Requirements
You must have Sun's Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version of 1.5, 1.4.2 or later installed on
the client workstation.
NOTE: Using GNU Java Runtime Environment is not supported
You must also have the HP Neoview JDBC Type 4 Driver for Neoview Release 2.3 installed on
the client workstation before installing NCI. To install the JDBC driver:
1. Locate or create a directory or folder for the JDBC TAR file anywhere on the client
workstation.
2. On the client workstation, start a Web browser and navigate to the download site: http://
www.software.hp.com.
3. Enter Neoview JDBC Type 4 Driver in the search box in the upper right corner of the
Software Depot home page.
4. Click the HP Neoview JDBC Type 4 Driver link that appears in the search results.
5. Follow the instructions to download the HP Neoview JDBC Type 4 Driver, which includes
the hpt4jdbc_2.3.<v>.tar file, to the directory or folder in Step 1.
6. Dearchive the hpt4jdbc_2.3.<v>.tar file using the tar command (or the WinZip Extract
tool):
tar -xvf hpt4jdbc_2.3.<v>.tar
7. In the section “Setting Up the Client,” provide the location where the hpt4jdbc.jar file
has been extracted.

Downloading the Installer
The NCI software is available as a zip file, hpnciInstaller.jar, on the Software Depot site
(JAR file).
