2 Neoview Platform Operations
General Safety Guidelines
WARNING! Do not touch areas marked HAZARDOUS, even with the power off. These areas
contain high-voltage power, and touching them could result in serious injury.
CAUTION: Do not perform any procedures on the Neoview platform except the Emergency
Power Off procedure described in this section. If you have any questions or concerns, contact
your HP support representative.
Do not power off the Neoview platform unless an emergency occurs. In that case, follow the
Emergency Power Off procedure described in this section.
Keep the the front and rear doors closed of the segment and combination cabinets closed. Failure
to do so could overheat the Neoview platform hardware components.
Keep the tops and sides of the cabinets clear to allow proper airflow and prevent overheating of
components.
Use the supplied power cord. The power cord must not be used with other products.
Emergency Power-Off Considerations
In an emergency, remove power to the Neoview platform as quickly as possible.
CAUTION: Performing the Emergency Power Off procedure immediately shuts down the
Neoview hardware, skipping the normal power-off sequence. Jobs in process are terminated,
and their integrity after recovery is not guaranteed
Use this power-off method only in an emergency. Only a qualified HP support representative
can restore power to your Neoview platform.
Emergencies in which you should consider performing the Emergency Power Off procedure
include:
• A catastrophe such as a flood, hurricane, tornado, or earthquake at your physical location
• Any circumstance with the threat of injury or death to a person
• Any loud, abnormal noise, smell, or smoke coming from the Neoview platform
Emergency Power-Off Procedure
There are no power switches within the Neoview platform to remove AC power. To power off
the Neoview platform, switch off the customer-provided circuit breaker or pull the emergency
power-off (EPO) switch by your computer room door. When the emergency is over, contact HP
support to restore power to the Neoview platform.
Planning a Scheduled Power Outage
Occasionally, you might need to schedule a site power outage, such as during alterations to your
computer center, inspections, or electrical work. If a scheduled outage affects the Neoview
platform, contact HP support.
Recovering From an Unplanned Power Outage
You must contact HP support to restore power to the Neoview platform.
