1 Introduction to the Neoview Platform
Overview
The HP Neoview Data Warehousing Platform for Business Intelligence leverages the reliability
and clustering technology of HP servers and the complex query technology of the HP database
to provide parallelism, high scalability, and high-volume storage. The platform has predefined
packaged configurations and services that are easy to install, tune, and manage.
CAUTION: This product is prepackaged and has been validated for Neoview platform use only.
Altering the configuration, hardware packaging, or software packaging will cause the HP support
contract to be void.
Summary of Features
• Configured and ready to use with all table spaces ready to load and with ODBC and parallel
loader preinstalled
• Fixed configurations of 16, 32, 48, 64, 96, 128, or 256 nodes, which have two disk volumes
per node.
• Enterprise Data Warehousing Extract Transform and Load (ETL) analytic and query tool
support
• High-speed loading and data extraction
• All operations online: backup, reorganization, index creation, updates, and maintenance
• No offline batch window is required, hash partitioning is transparent
• Simple to manage with a single system image:
— No partition boundaries to set or tune
— No materialized views to manage
— No indexes to maintain
— No parallel-load software to write
— No platform management to perform
• Both real time and batch capable, with mixed workload support due to robust prioritization
• Advanced database optimization and parallel execution capabilities
Neoview Platform Hardware
The Neoview platform hardware consists of a segment cabinet, a combination cabinet, and a
Neoview Loader. The Neoview Loader is in the combination cabinet or a separate cabinet,
depending on the configuration type.
