5. Define Basic Network Settings
Before you can access the Command View NAS web interface, you must configure the primary
network port on the NAS servers.
Note If you have additional NICs and are not using DHCP, you will configure their IP
addresses, subnet masks and broadcast addresses using the Command View
NAS web interface.
1. Connect a laptop with terminal emulation software to the server.
Connect an RS232 null-modem cable to the Management Port on the server.

2. Use a terminal emulator to log in and enter network settings.
Use the following settings:
Bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None
3. Press Enter until you see the system name and login prompt, as shown here, then log in as
admin. No password is required.

4. Determine whether your network uses DHCP and follow the appropriate instructions on the
following pages.
