HP MSA 2040 I/O Module Replacement Instructions (765269-001, March 2014)

3. Reconnect the cables.
Verifying proper operation
After replacing the I/O module, check the module status.
For LED descriptions, see Table 1 (page 1).
If the Fault/Service Required LED is amber, the module
is not online and likely failed its self-test. Remove and
reinstall the module. If the problem is not resolved, refer
to your array troubleshooting information.
Updating firmware
IMPORTANT: In dual I/O module configurations,
firmware does not clone from one I/O module to
the other. You must individually update the
firmware on each I/O module to the latest version.
After installing a new I/O module, verify that the latest
firmware is installed on all I/O modules in the enclosure.
Go to the HP Support Center website and navigate to
the page for your enclosure. If newer firmware is
available, download the firmware to your local system
and install that latest version on the modules. For more
information on firmware updates, see the HP MSA 1040
SMU Reference Guide or the HP MSA 2040 SMU
Reference Guide.
Returning the failed module
Instructions for returning the failed component are
included with the replacement part.
