Online Data Migration Methods
The following sections describe the methods for performing online data migration using the iSR6200:
Method 1 is a generic method that requires cluster nodes to be shut down while presenting LUNs from
the iSR6200.
Method 2 allows insertion of the iSR6200 in the data path with no downtime.
Method 3 involves a small amount of downtime during the insertion process.
Method 4 involves a cluster failover during the insertion process. This method requires a complete
shutdown of the cluster nodes during the insertion process.
These methods are sequenced in order of increasing downtime, where method 2 requires zero
downtime and method 4 requires a complete shutdown of cluster nodes.
NOTE:
For details about configuration and zoning changes that must be completed to introduce the router in
the data path, refer to the Data Migration Service for iSR6200 User’s Guide.
