Downloading HP-UX Patches
To download patches for HP-UX, use the HP IT Resource Center website (http://itrc.hp.com).
1. Go to the HP IT Resource Center (http://itrc.hp.com) and select the “Patch database” link
under the Downloads section.
2. Login or create an account if this is the first time visiting the site.
3. Search for the various patch IDs and download the patches by following the instructions
on the patch page.

Installing and Removing HP-UX Patches for VSE Management Software Version 4.0
October 2008 Update Release
To install the patches included with the VSE Management Software Version 4.0 October 2008
Update Release use the following commands:
gwlmcmsd --stop
gwlmagent --stop
swinstall patch-ID
vseinitconfig -a
gwlmagent
The vseinitconfig -a command puts the patched files in the appropriate places and
reconfigures VSE software so the patched files are used.
To remove patches, use the following commands:
gwlmcmsd --stop
gwlmagent --stop
swremove patch-ID
vseinitconfig -a
gwlmagent
Managing Microsoft Windows Severs without OpenSSH Installed
Even though the product documentation states OpenSSH is required, Insight Dynamics - VSE
supports Microsoft Windows environments not running OpenSSH. However, for Microsoft
Windows systems without OpenSSH there are several limitations with agent installation and
troubleshooting.

additional configuration steps to be performed after installation.
Installation of HP-UX Patches and Agent Software
As described in VSE Management Software Version 4.0 Installation and Update Guide for HP-UX
(“Installing VSE Agent Software on Managed Systems”), agent software and required patches
for HP-UX managed systems can be installed from HP SIM using Configure→Configure VSE
Agents→Install HP-UX VSE Agents.... In this release, the following required HP-UX patches
can be installed from this interface. Note that most of these patches require the managed system
to reboot after installation.
