HP-UX Virtual Partitions 6.0 Release Notes

Firmware
The latest available firmware for the blade server can be installed. Firmware bundle 2011.05 is
the minimum requirement.

NOTE: Only Qlogic cards support NPIV. Emulex cards do not support NPIV.
Operating systems
vPars v6.0 requires the HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31) September 2011 update or later. In addition, the
following patch is required:
• PHKL_42464
NOTE: Both the VSP and each virtual partition require the HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31) September
2011 update or later.
Software applications
Application certification
Applications running on top of HP-UX using vPars run the same as when run on HP-UX native-mode
(standalone). No changes, recompilation, or re-certification is required for applications running in
the virtual partitions unless otherwise noted.
Matrix Operating Environment (OE) for HP-UX

Ignite-UX version
vPars has no special requirements. For the Ignite-UX version required for HP-UX 11i v3, see the
Ignite-UX product documentation. At this time, HP-UX 11i v3 requires Ignite-UX version C.7.13.240
or later.
