HP-UX Virtual Partitions 6.0 Release Notes

4 Ordering and licensing HP-UX Virtual Partitions v6.0
The HP-UX Virtual Partitions v6.0 (vPars v6.0) product is sold on a Per Socket License basis.
Therefore, you purchase the same quantity of this product as the number of processor sockets in
your system that will be running vPars. If you later add additional processor sockets, you must also
purchase the corresponding number of per-socket licenses of vPars v6.0.
NOTE: Every active CPU socket requires its own vPars v6.0 license.
Ordering vPars v6.0
HP vPars v6.0 for BL8x0c i2 software (BB068AAE) is available for separate order and is also
available with HP-UX 11i v3 Virtual Server Environment (BA929AAE) and with HP-UX 11i v3 Data
Center Operating Environment (BA931AAE). Electronic delivery is required at this time. You place
the order with an HP Sales Rep or HP Partner to ensure correct configuration and to identify eligibility
for trade-in and discounts.
The software is also available through the Software Update Service. Existing customers for HP-UX
11i v3 Virtual Server Environment (BA929AAE) and HP-UX 11i v3 Data Center Operating
Environment (BA931AAE) will have access to the vPars v6.0 software linked to each Operating
Environment directory in the Software Updates and Licensing portal.
Related software licensing
You have two options when you want to purchase software licenses for systems running vPars
Per server licensing or Virtualization licensing.
Per server licensing allows licensing of HP-UX 11i software based upon the number of active
processing cores in the server.
Virtualization licensing allows you to purchase software licenses for less than the full processor
core capacity of a server when the software is run in the server.
For details on software licensing for vPars, see the Virtualization Licensing for HP-UX 11i website
at http://www.hp.com/go/virtualizationlicensing/
Supported platforms
