HP Insight Recovery 1.0 Release Notes

• To provide flexibility - if non-DR Protected workloads are running on HP IR licensed servers,
there may not be enough resources to assign recovery servers for all DR Protected logical
servers.
• To accommodate future growth in the number of DR Protected logical servers.
NOTE: HP IR and ID-VSE do not place any restrictions on moving DR Protected logical servers
from HP IR licensed servers to unlicensed servers (using VMAN drag and drop, for example).
HP IR and ID-VSE do not place any restrictions on activating DR Protected logical servers on
unlicensed servers.
There are also no restrictions on activating, or moving, non-DR Protected logical servers to HP
IR licensed servers.
NOTE: Continuous Access (CA) licenses must be installed on each EVA array at each site that
will be configured to contain storage for HP IR Storage Replication Groups.
Configure HP Insight Recovery
The HP Insight Recovery product is configured and managed through a graphical user interface
(GUI) that has the same look and feel as the other GUIs associated with the HP Virtual Server
Environment.
When HP Insight Recovery is first installed, but has not yet been configured, the HP Insight
Recovery Configuration screen will appear and prompt you to configure sites.
From the HP Insight Recovery GUI:
1. Configure the Primary Site.
2. Configure storage.
3. Configure Recovery Groups.
4. Export the Primary Site configuration.
5. Import the Primary Site configuration file at the Recovery Site.
6. Perform a failover test to verify that HP Insight Recovery is properly configured.
Online Help associated with the HP Insight Recovery GUI screens is accessed by clicking on
“Help” in the tool bar at the top of each screen. The HP Insight Recovery GUI and associated
Online Help will guide you through all HP Insight Recovery configuration and management
tasks. Refer to the HP IR online help for more information.
Patches In This Version
The Matrix 1.01 update was the only update available for HP Insight Recovery 1.0 at the time

Product Issues and Limitations
This section provides a list of HP Insight Recovery issues and limitations known to HP at time
of publication.
Issues
• The step for creating the HP Insight Recovery toolbox that is documented in the HP Insight
Recovery 1.0 online help is no longer required with the Matrix 1.01 update. The patch creates
a toolbox named “DR toolbox” and control over HP Insight Recovery authorization is
exercised using this toolbox. HP recommends using Virtual Machine Management version
3.7.1 - it is delivered as part of the Matrix 1.01 update.
• If HP IR is installed from the Insight Software version 3.1 DVD, there are broken links in
the HP Insight Recovery 1.0 Online Help (Document Format) PDF file that you can access from
