For virtual machine deployment, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x86 or x64 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008
x86 or x64 can be deployed to a virtual machine created within one of the supported virtualization hosts, VMware ESX
3i, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V x86/x64, or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V.
2
Support notations in this column apply only to the Data Center Power Control capability. For server-specific support
notations for all other power management capabilities, see Appendix A (page 55)
3
Matrix recovery management does not support failover of any Hypervisor hosts.
4
Matrix recovery management supports only VMware ESX VM guests and clustered Microsoft Hyper-V R2 VM guests on
CSV (cluster shared volume).
5
Matrix infrastructure orchestration does not support Linux guests on Microsoft Hyper-V.
6
VMware ESX and ESXi are not supported on ProLiant DL120 G7 and ML110 G7 servers.
7
VMware ESXi cannot be deployed through Matrix infrastructure orchestration. VMware ESXi can be manually deployed
through Insight Control server deployment.
8
The Data Center Power Control (DCPC) OS shutdown function is not supported for VMware ESXi.
9
SIM will not install management agents on ESXi 5.

Provides for the discovery or association of the host or guest on the CMS only.
HP Matrix Operating Environment infrastructure orchestration enables VMware vDS (vNetwork
Distributed Switch) virtual switches in an ESX data center to be used without any limitation. See
the HP Matrix Operating Environment Infrastructure Orchestration User Guide for more information.
Table 47 lists the Matrix OE software requirements and restrictions for Integrity virtual machine
(VM) hosts running a supported HP-UX OS. See the HP Integrity Virtual Machines documentation
