HP Insight Dynamics- VSE for ProLiant Installation and Configuration Guide

time-out (for example, five seconds) with at least one retry. For a LAN, a shorter time-out can be used.
You can configure these settings on a single-system basis.
To access the Global Credentials page, select Go to the Global Credentials page to set global
SNMP community strings.
7. In the Read community string field, enter up to 10 read community strings. This value is case-sensitive.
The identification process attempts communication with a system, using each of these communities in
succession until a successful response is obtained. Future SNMP requests then use the community string
that provided a successful response.
If you have SNMP systems and no read community string that match the systems entered into HP SIM
through Global Protocol Settings or System Settings, the systems are not discovered.
8. In the WS-MAN settings section, verify that WS-MAN is enabled and enter a Default identity timeout.
9. In the SSH settings section, select Enable SSH to enable SSH identification to run on managed
systems.
10. (Optional) In the DMI settings section, select Enable DMI, to enable DMI identification to run on
managed systems. DMI is used to manage some older desktops, HP-UX 11.0 servers, and some third-party
servers. If you do not need to manage these kinds of systems, you can disable DMI to improve discovery
performance. DMI is not enabled by default.
For HP-UX, HP recommends disabling DMI.
DMI is not currently supported on Linux systems and does not appear in the user interface.
If DMI is disabled and some systems no longer have a correct system type or product name, re-enable
DMI.
11. Click OK to accept the settings.
Configuring HP Service Essentials Remote Support Pack
The HP Service Essentials Remote Support Pack provides remote monitoring to supplement local monitoring
of HP SIM. It also provides real-time hardware event monitoring and secure event submission to HP Support.
This monitoring helps identify and prevent potentially critical problems on your HP ProLiant servers, Linux-based
Integrity servers, and their associated internal devices.
The HP Service Essentials Remote Support Pack includes three components:
HP Remote Support Software Manager (RSSWM)—RSSWM, bundled with HP SIM and installed to the
CMS, facilitates the download and installation of HP Remote Support applications.
Remote Support Configuration and Services Option—The Remote Support Configuration and Services
Option is installed and updated by RSSWM. When installed, HP SIM accesses the Remote Support
Option and uses it to enable remote support of eligible systems in your enterprise.
HP Remote Support Client—The Remote Support Client enables communication of reactive hardware
events from the CMS to the HP Support Center.
This section focuses on RSSWM. RSSWM is bundled with the installation of HP SIM on a supported Microsoft
Windows ProLiant CMS. RSSWM is installed to the CMS and runs independently of the HP SIM user interface.
RSSWM is installed on the CMS during HP SIM installation. The inclusion and installation of RSSWM are
part of the standard HP SIM installation. Although optional, RSSWM is preselected in the custom HP SIM
installation and upgrade.
When installed, you can access RSSWM from an icon on the CMS desktop or from the Start menu.
After the HP SIM installation is complete, configure RSSWM to your enterprise specifications. When
configured, RSSWM downloads and installs the Remote Support Client.
RSSWM offers the following functionality and benefits:
Perform upgrades remotely, reducing HP Support Engineer time on your site for installations.
Receive automated e-mail notifications of new software, deployment statistics, and the state of your
configurations.
