2 New and changed features in this release
Insight Dynamics 6.0 includes several significant new features and capabilities over previous
releases of Insight Dynamics – VSE suite for ProLiant and VSE Management Software for Integrity.
The following list provides a brief summary of key changes in this release. For more information
about changes in this release, see the HP Insight Dynamics 6.0 Release Notes and the user guides
listed in “Manuals and white papers” (page 33).
• Insight Dynamics for ProLiant now includes 64-bit CMS support, a 32-bit to 64-bit CMS
migration tool, and support for selected non-HP servers.
• The new Insight managed system setup wizard simplifies configuration of managed systems,
including installation of agent software, assignment of licenses, and other configuration
required for the management features that you select. For more information, see “Using the
Insight managed system setup wizard” (page 19).
• HP Insight Orchestration software is now included with Insight Dynamics on Microsoft
Windows managed systems. For Integrity systems, HP Insight Orchestration software is
optionally available. Insight Orchestration provides rapid provisioning and re-purposing
of infrastructure services from shared resource pools. For more information, see “HP Insight
Orchestration software” (page 22).
• HP Insight Recovery software is now included with Insight Dynamics on Microsoft Windows
managed systems. Insight Recovery provides a disaster recovery solution for logical servers
running on physical or virtual servers. For more information, see “HP Insight Recovery
software” (page 25).
• HP Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM) is now included with Insight Dynamics on Microsoft
Windows managed systems. SPM securely automates management of storage tasks using
common storage pools. For more information, see “HP Storage Provisioning Manager”
(page 25).
• Application Discovery includes more comprehensive resource management and improved
scalability.
• HP Insight Capacity Advisor software provides several new features, including agentless
data collection from Linux standalone servers, additional metrics, new report options,
support for simulating VMware DRS clusters, increased modeling accuracy, and
enhancements to the scenario creation wizard.
• HP Insight Global Workload Manager software for Integrity now provides an advanced
reporting wizard.
• HP Insight Virtualization Manager software includes support for new types of servers and
virtual machines, privilege elevation for root access to managed systems using non-root
user accounts, and new features in the Virtualization tab.
• Support for logical servers has been enhanced to include expanded technology and improved
ease-of-use features.
• The vseassist utility has been enhanced with new configuration checks and support for
ioassist and wbemassist where installed.
• HP Integrity Virtual Machines Manager now supports HP Integrity Virtual Machines 4.1,
migration of virtual machines from host to host, and other new features. For more
information, see “Integrity Virtual Machines Manager” (page 27).
