HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.1 Release Notes

Restart is required if SPM loses connectivity to an XP storage array while it is attempting
to access the array
Using SPM to manage XP storage arrays requires the CMS to be connected to the FC SAN. If SPM
loses connectivity to the array while it is attempting to access the storage array, either to gather
information for the catalog or perform configuration operations, the SPM catalog might be in an
inconsistent state.
Suggested action
After FC connectivity has been reestablished between the CMS and the XP storage array, restart
the ”HP SPM Storage Module Service Windows service. After the service restart, the catalog will
be in a normal state after the next resynchronization. (Resynchronization occurs automatically
every 60 minutes, and this value can be configured. See the HP Storage Provisioning Manager
(SPM) User Guide at www.hp.com/go/matrixoe/docs for details.)
Importing a volume (LDEV) with exactly 256 presentation paths does not succeed
From an XP storage array, attempting to import a volume (LDEV) with exactly 256 presentation
paths does not succeed. This is caused by a known firmware defect.
Suggested action
Change the number of presentation paths to a number other than 256 and retry the import operation.
SPM may mark an array offline when a volume is deleted during on-demand provisioning
During on-demand provisioning, when a storage service is deactivated and the volume is deleted
on the array, an error may occur that causes SPM to incorrectly mark the array as offline in its
catalog. While the array is marked offline, SPM will not perform any provisioning or reconfiguration
operations on the array even though the array is functioning properly.
Suggested action 1
Wait for SPM to resynchronize and restore the array to an online state in its catalog. After the
array is online, provisioning and reconfiguration operations can be performed. (Resynchronization
occurs automatically every 60 minutes, and this value can be configured. See the HP Storage
Provisioning Manager (SPM) User Guide at www.hp.com/go/matrixoe/docs for details.)
Suggested action 2
Manually log into SPM and browse to the offline array. Click Resync Array, which forces SPM
synchronization with the array to be performed immediately. If successful, the array will be marked
online.
Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Mode must be disabled
If Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Mode is enabled, Internet Explorer will not run any browser
plugins. Attempting to access the SPM user interface in this mode results in a prompt to install
Silverlight, even if Silverlight is already installed.
Suggested action
Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Mode or add the SPM user interface URL (the default
is https://[machine-name]:8000) to your trusted sites list.
