HP Insight Recovery 1.0 Release Notes

IMPORTANT: You must license and install the HP Insight Control suite, ID-VSE, and Virtual
Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM), before you can install and license HP Insight Recovery
(HP IR). You will also need to install Continuous Access (CA) licenses on each EVA array that
will be configured as an HP IR Replication Group.
Central Management Server
HP Insight Recovery software is installed and runs on HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM) Central
Management Servers.
HP Insight Recovery 1.0 requires and supports the following CMS server hardware:
• HP ProLiant BladeSystem c-Class or p-Class server blades
• HP ProLiant ML or DL 300, 500, and 700 G3 or higher recommended
HP IR follows the supported hardware requirements listed in the HP Insight Software Support

NOTE: HP Insight Recovery requires that you set the primary DNS suffix for the CMS computer
name from the Windows System Properties dialog box (Start –> Control Panel –> System
–> System Properties –> Computer Name –> Change –> More). An example of a DNS suffix
is: company.com
Managed Servers
The following servers are supported as HP Insight Recovery 1.0 managed servers:
• All ProLiant c-Class server blades
• ProLiant DL and ML (300, 500, and 700 series) servers are supported for VMs (ESX hosts
and guests) only.

Storage
HP Insight Recovery replicates data between the Primary and Recovery Sites using EVA
Continuous Access replication software. Each site requires Command View EVA to manage the
EVA arrays associated with that site. Continuous Access licenses must be installed on Command
View EVA.
HP Insight Recovery 1.0, supports the following EVA arrays:
• EVA 4000/4100/4400 with Continuous Access Synchronous Replication
• EVA 6000/6100/6400 with Continuous Access Synchronous Replication
• EVA 8000/8100/8400 with Continuous Access Synchronous Replication
NOTE: For HP Insight Recovery 1.0, Command View EVA version 8.0.2 or 9.0 is required
NOTE: If Command View EVA and HP SIM are installed on the same Physical server, HP
Insight Recovery 1.0 requires that ports 5988 and 5989 are reserved for the Command View EVA
WBEM instance. To avoid port conflict, you must change the port number for the HP SIM WBEM
instance.
Browser
HP Insight Recovery is a web based application; a web browser is needed to access HP IR. For
HP Insight Recovery 1.0, the supported browsers are:
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
