2 Central Management Server requirements
This chapter provides the minimum hardware and software requirements for a CMS running a
supported Microsoft Windows operating system (OS).
CMS hardware requirements
Table 1 lists the hardware requirements for a single-server CMS.

HP Systems Insight Manager, HP Insight Control virtual machine management, and the HP Matrix
Operating Environment (Matrix OE) also support operating a CMS in a virtual machine on some
non-HP servers. See Table 26 (page 29) for a list of supported non-HP servers. This configuration
requires the CMS to be running a supported operating system listed in“Supported Microsoft Windows
operating systems” (page 11) and a supported hypervisor listed in “Supported hypervisors” (page 12).
At least 1.6 GHz (2 GHz or faster recommended). For Matrix OE, four or more processing cores
are required with a minimum of 1.6 GHz processors. The recommended configuration is eight
processing cores at 2.4 GHz or higher.

Memory requirements
Table 2 lists the memory requirements on the CMS, which differ for 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64)
operating systems and whether or not Matrix OE is being installed.
