HP Matrix 7.2 KVM Private Cloud Getting Started Guide
See “Deploy a virtual machine to the cloud” (page 26) for information about how to create and
deploy a KVM cloud instance.
From the Instances screen, you can:
• Create an image from a snapshot of an instance, which allows you to capture the attributes
of the running environment of an instance and duplicate it for future use.
• Start an instance, if the virtual machine is not running.
• Reboot an instance, either a soft reboot, which performs a shutdown and restart of the virtual
machine software or a hard reboot, which forces a power cycle.
• Delete an instance.

The overview screen shows the current list of instances. No filters are provided on this screen, but
you can sort the table data by clicking a column header.

Suspended Instance is temporarily not running, and the content of the virtual machine
is stored in memory (RAM).
Paused Instance is temporarily not running.
Rebuilding A user-initiated action that recreates a virtual machine instance in a
transient state.
Stopped Virtual machine is powered off and the power down action was initiated
by either the KVM Admin Console, OpenStack API or Matrix OE.
Shutoff Virtual machine is powered off and the power down action was initiated
by the user.
Resize pending Instance is being resized.
