HP Insight Orchestration makes it easy to build your
infrastructure catalog. An included visual design
studio allows your IT architects to create infrastructure
templates using a drag-and-drop editor. Templates
can include both physical and virtual elements and
their detailed requirements.
Your architects also have the flexibility to create dif-
ferent configuration packages to meet different needs
and budgets. For example, they might create standard
platinum, gold, and silver service configurations, or
small, medium, and large configurations, and then
attach prices to each infrastructure package.
Once they are created, infrastructure templates can
be made available to authorized users via a Web-
based, self-service portal. In this manner, templates
drive automated, repeatable provisioning and fast
deployment of resources.
Automatically provision.
HP Insight Orchestration enables your organization to
rapidly provision infrastructure from pools of shared
server and storage resources. The provisioning tasks
are simplified through the use of automated capa-
bilities and streamlined approval processes that are
made available to users through the Web-based self-
service portal.
Via this portal, authorized users can select the
resources they need from a list of best-practice tem-
plates. They can request an infrastructure template for
a specified lease period, which gives you the assur-
ance that the provisioned resources will be available
for repurposing in a timely manner—and that they
won’t sit idle after a user has completed a project.
The self-service portal is role-based. This means that
different users can be granted different levels of
access to provisioning tools. You might, for example,
specify different levels of access for service admin-
istrators, test and development teams, application
specialists, and other types of users based on their
unique needs.
Once approved, the requested infrastructure config-
uration is automatically created and provisioned. HP
Insight Orchestration can automatically provision mul-
tiple tiers, multiple nodes, physical and virtual serv-
ers, network addresses, and attached storage. After
that, users can manage their infrastructure via the self-
service portal and its tools. Among other capabilities,
users can suspend, resume, and delete resources and
flex capacity—or easily add or remove servers to an
existing service to respond to changes in utilization.
Ultimately, HP Insight Orchestration’s automated pro-
visioning capabilities provide fast, reliable access to
available shared resources for IT administrators, appli-
cation owners, test and development teams, and oth-
ers who need timely access to IT infrastructure.
Seamlessly integrate.
HP Insight Orchestration is designed to integrate eas-
ily and seamlessly with existing IT management tools
and processes across the IT lifecycle—from design
through operation and the ultimate repurposing of
assets. It uses an embedded workflow automation
tool, HP Operations Orchestration software, to make
infrastructure delivery processes more efficient and
reliable across IT functions, including the roles of IT
architects, administrators, and operations teams.
