supports the Version Control environment (including the ability to present storage to an initiator
WWN which is not yet visible on the fabric), N_Port MOE Virtualization (NPIV), and boot-from-SAN
capability (boot volume as a pre-presented LUN). Matrix OE now supports SAN-based storage for

To realize the benefits of Virtual Connect logical servers, including the ability to move logical
servers and to easily repurpose server blades associated with inactive logical servers, you must
remove or disable any local disks.
Matrix OE does not support physical provisioning with the HP SAN Virtualization Services Platform,
which does not currently support the presentation of storage to a Virtual Connect HBA initiator
WWN that is not visible on the SAN fabric at the time of the presentation. Virtual Connect initiator
WWNs are not visible on the SAN fabric until they are applied to a server HBA which has been
powered-on.
Use of Matrix recovery management requires an HP P6000 EVA Storage System, an HP P9000
XP Storage System, or 3PAR array per site plus replication software.
The storage validation feature of Matrix OE logical server management is supported on the following
HP disk arrays:
• MSA1000/1500
• P2000fc

NOTE: Support for a password-protected HP P6000 EVA Storage System array requires the

Matrix OE logical server capabilities (including storage validation and integration with the HP
Storage Provisioning Manager 2.0) supports HP P6000 software versions 9.2, 9.2.1, 9.3, 9.4,
or 10.0 (includes the array SMI-S provider).
