HP Insight Dynamics- VSE for ProLiant Installation and Configuration Guide
6. If you use a proxy, select I use a proxy, and enter the appropriate configuration information.
7. If your proxy requires authentication, select My proxy requires authentication, and enter the
appropriate user credentials. Only basic (not encrypted) authentication is supported.
8. Click Next.
9. To run the patch acquisition, click Run Now.
The vulnerability and patch acquisition process begins. You can monitor the progress of the acquisition

The Acquisition Log displays the progress of the acquisition. Disregard any messages that appear on
the log screen.
The acquisition process might appear to stall (hang) when downloading large files.
10. When the acquisition process is complete, click Done.
11. On the VPM server, create a directory named data at C:\Program
Files\HP\VPM\Radia\Integration Server.

Acquisitions from the VPM server
Do not schedule patch acquisition tasks to run while vulnerability scans are running. Patch acquisition tasks
cause vulnerability scans to abort.
If you use a proxy to connect to the Internet, you must configure the proxy settings to acquire updates. For
more information, see Modifying the HP Vulnerability and Patch Management settings.
Only Microsoft Proxy Server is tested and supported. Only basic authentication for Internet proxy servers is
supported. The use of Internet proxy server scripts and full NTLM authentication are not supported.
For an initial installation, HP recommends scheduling regular patch updates and running the patch acquisition
immediately.
1. Select Options→Vulnerability and Patch Management→Acquire Updates.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions, selecting the appropriate update information for your server environment
when prompted.
3. Select one or more sources from which to acquire patch updates, and click Next. HP updates and
vulnerability scan definition files are always automatically downloaded.
4. Select the appropriate operating systems or platforms and platform related applications, and click Next.
5. Select the appropriate languages for the required patches.
6. Click Schedule, and then select a time to acquire daily VPM updates.
Updates might not be available daily, but scheduling the event daily ensures that you obtain critical
updates promptly. Updates to scan definitions are usually available a few days after new patches are
released.
7. To run the initial patch acquisition, select the Run now checkbox and click Done. The first update
process after the initial software installation can take a long time, depending on the number of patch
sources selected and the quantity of updates available from each source.
You can monitor the progress of the acquisition at C:\Program
Files\HP\VPM\Radia\IntegrationServer\logs\patch-acquire.log.
The acquisition event might contain raw HTTP error codes. You must decode the raw data to determine
the cause. To decode HTTP error codes, see either http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/
rfc2616-sec10.html or the IIS help pages located at C:\WINNT\Help\iisHelp\common on a system
where Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is installed.
