HP Insight Dynamics- VSE for ProLiant Installation and Configuration Guide
2 Performing an installation
This chapter describes how to perform an installation.
Performing an integrated installation
IMPORTANT: Be sure that maintenance activities do not reboot the system during installation.
The HP Insight Software integrated installation is completed in a single process with all HP Insight Software
components installed on a single management server. Variations to this installation process might occur
under any of the following scenarios:
• If HP SIM 5.1 SP1 or higher is already installed, HP Insight Software and all its components are installed
on the HP SIM Central Management Server (CMS). If necessary, HP SIM and all its components are
updated to the latest version.
• If HP Rapid Deployment Pack 3.60, 3.70, or 3.80 is installed on your HP SIM CMS, HP Insight Software
upgrades HP Rapid Deployment Pack to version 3.82.
• If HP Rapid Deployment Pack 3.82 is already installed, you can provide the HP Insight Software installer
with information to incorporate your existing Rapid Deployment Pack installation. In this configuration,
HP Rapid Deployment Pack 3.82 can reside on the same server or on a different server from the HP
SIM CMS.
• If neither HP SIM nor HP Rapid Deployment Pack is present, both components are installed, along with
the other HP Insight Software components, during the HP Insight Software integrated installation process.
IMPORTANT: Microsoft IIS 6.0 or later must be installed on the target CMS to successfully install and use
HP Vulnerability and Patch Management. For more information about configuring HTTPS service in IIS, see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=324069.
NOTE: Before beginning the installation process, identify all operating systems to be deployed.
You can install or upgrade a suite of products either by management suite or by customized product list,
selecting one or more suites or components for installation. Individual components can also be installed or
upgraded using the integrated installer.
In addition, an option to install HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM) in Standalone mode is
available from the main installer screen. The VCEM standalone install option can also be used to upgrade
a VCEM 1.10 or 1.10 SP1 standalone installation to 1.20 in standalone mode. A VCEM standalone
installation requires a dedicated physical or virtual server to host the application. This installation type uses
a specialized version of HP SIM that does not support the installation of additional Insight Control software
plug-ins.
To install HP Insight Software, perform the following procedure. If you need help at any time during the
installation process, click the ? icon.
1. Insert HP Insight Software DVD #1 into the DVD-ROM of the intended management server. The End User
License Agreement appears. Read the agreement, and then click Agree. The Welcome to the HP
Insight Software DVD screen appears.
NOTE: You can use an ISO mounting utility to automatically load both DVDs.
2. Click Run Insight Software Advisor. The Welcome to the Insight Software Advisor screen appears.
3. Click Run Now. The Welcome to Insight Software Advisor results screen identifies issues that might
affect the installation of the HP Insight Software suite. You can sort the results by severity by clicking the
Result column heading, or filter the results by severity, product, or suite by clicking the Filter button.
The Welcome to Insight Software Advisor screen reappears.
