Adding storage to an IO VM Cluster service by adding a volume to a pre-existing SPE requires taking the following
steps:
1. Carve the storage on the SAN storage array.
2. Present the storage on the SAN storage array.
3. Add the volume to the SPE if it is not already defined in the SPE.
4. Mark the volume as "Ready" in the SPE.
5. Perform the IO disk add.
NOTE: Zoning is the same as all other volumes in the SPE, so it does not need to be modified.
The disk add operation will update IO to reflect the added disk. The 10_ConfigureVMHostDataStore_group_end
OO
workflow attached to the Add Data Disk End actions causes the VM host to rescan the SCSI bus and creates a
data store for the volume in vCenter.
Predefined SPM-managed static storage pool entries
Storage Provisioning Manager can manage a predefined SPE to automate the presentation of the storage on the
SAN storage array. (For more information, see the HP Storage Provisioning Manager User Guide at
http://www.hp.com/go/matrixoe/docs.) Volumes must still be properly carved and zoned. The IO disk add process
directs the presentation of the volume. Adding an SPM-managed volume does not introduce a new SPE to the blade,
and no Virtual Connect profile deactivation is required (or the associated reboot). After the storage becomes
available to the blade, the OS can rescan the SCSI bus and begin using the new volumes.
