HP Matrix 7.2 KVM Private Cloud Getting Started Guide

SAN zoning within Brocade SAN environments if at least one zone is already configured in the
SAN fabric by the SAN administrator. For more information about SPM, see the HP Storage
Provisioning Manager (SPM) User Guide at http://www.hp.com/go/matrixoe/docs.
If on-demand storage provisioning through SPM cannot be used in the environment, make available
Storage Pool Entries (SPEs) and LUNs for which appropriate zoning and storage presentation have
already been done. SAN zoning must be configured manually according to the organization’s
SAN zoning policy in the SAN fabric. For more information, see the HP Matrix Operating
Environment 7.2 Logical Server Management User Guide at http://www.hp.com/go/matrixoe/
docs.
Using storage tags with the template is optional. Storage tags can be useful when SPM on-demand
provisioning cannot be used, that is, when you are using defined SPEs. Storage tags should not
be needed if you are using different sizes of storage LUNs for the OS Image (Glance) disk and
VM instances store.

About backing up and restoring the appliance
HP Matrix KVM Private Cloud provides services to back up and restore an appliance. If an appliance
is lost or corrupted, it might be necessary to restore the appliance from a backup file. A backup
file contains configuration settings and management data and is stored in a file of proprietary
format.
REST APIs and sample scripts are provided to perform backup and restore operations.
For more information, see the HP Matrix 7.2 KVM Private Cloud Backup and Restore white paper
available at http://www.hp.com/go/matrixoe/docs.
