HP Insight Dynamics 6.0 Getting Started Guide

NOTE: The following procedures are used to add and apply licenses that are based on “5x5”
keys (introduced with version 4.0 of Insight Dynamics and VSE Management Software). Licenses
To Use (LTUs) from earlier versions of the VSE Management Software for Integrity or from the
HP-UX VSE or DC Operating Environments are managed using the vselicense command or
the “Scan for HP-UX Licenses” tool. For information about the “Scan for HP-UX Licenses” tool,
see “Scan for HP-UX licenses” (page 17).
To add and apply licenses, follow the procedures listed in “Using HP SIM License Manager”
(page 13). Licenses should be applied in the order shown in “Order in which to apply licenses”
(page 13).
To add and apply licenses, you must have administrative rights on the CMS and you must be
authorized for the All Tools toolbox on the managed systems that you want to license. To
assign administrative rights to an HP SIM user, select the Users tab under
Options→Security→Users and Authorizations... and enable the “Configure CMS Security”
option. To authorize users for toolboxes, use the Authorizations tab under
Options→Security→Users and Authorizations....
Order in which to apply licenses
For systems that will be managed by a CMS running Microsoft Windows, applying licenses in
the proper order will simplify the process and reduce errors. Apply licenses to each managed
system in the order shown for each system type:

Using HP SIM License Manager
License Manager allows you to view the available and applied licenses for all products in the
HP SIM License Manager database. You can use License Manager to add new licenses to the
database and apply licenses to managed systems. To use HP SIM License Manager, you must
have administrative rights on the CMS.
To start License Manager, select Deploy→License Manager... from the HP SIM menu. This
menu selection will only be available if you have administrative rights on the CMS.
