HP Insight Dynamics 6.3 Release Notes

Global Workload Manager
Limitations
HP Integrity Superdome 2 support
The HP Global Workload Manager (gWLM) supports Fair Share Scheduler (FSS), Partition Sets
(PSETS), and HP Integrity Virtual Machines on HP Integrity Superdome 2. Global Workload Manager
does not support nPartitions and vPartitions. Online migration of CPU is also not supported.
Support for virtual partitions with cell-local processors
This version of HP Global Workload Manager (gWLM) is not compatible with virtual partitions
(vPars) that have cell-local processors assigned to them. Using gWLM to manage virtual partitions
with assigned cell-local processors will result in erroneous core allocation. This occurs because the
number of cell-local processors already assigned to a partition is not added to the number of cores
when calculating the target size.
Suggested action
Install the PHSS_42059 patch for HP-UX 11 v2 and v3 to manage virtual partitions with cell-local
processors.
Download the patch from http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc. Select Patch management from the
Download options menu, then type PHSS_42059 in the search box. After downloading, execute
the command sh PHSS_42059, and install the depot file that is generated.
Minor issues
Remove old configuration data from the gWLM database
Changes to workloads are stored in the gWLM database as configuration changes. The gWLM
database will grow over time when workloads are being modified.
NOTE: If workloads are managed by gWLM, historical monitoring data is stored in the database
and using the following commands will delete this data as well.
Suggested action
Remove old configuration data from the gWLM database at regular intervals (such as monthly).
The following commands can be used to trim the database based on date or age.
On HP-UX systems, enter the commands from /opt/gwlm/bin/. On Microsoft Windows systems,
enter the commands from the default location at C:\Program Files\HP\Virtual Server
Environment\bin\gwlm\.
gwlm history --truncate=<CCYY/MM/DD>
For example, to remove data that was stored before March 25, 2011, enter:
gwlm history --truncate=2011/03/25
gwlm history -purge=<days>
For example, to remove all data except for the last thirty days, enter:
gwlm history --purge=30
HP Insight Orchestration
HP Insight Orchestration runs on an x86/x64 Windows CMS.
