2 Server Management Tools
Installation
The follow sections describe typical installations. Choose the environment that
suits your needs.
Small Business Environment
To manage servers on a small network with no dedicated web servers.
Management Console (PC running
Windows NT, 95, 98 or 2000)
Install/Configure:
HP TopTools Auto Alert
Software: HP TopTools CD under \Servers\AutoAlrt, or
the HP Netserver Navigator CD under
Manage\Console\Autoalrt, or the HP website at
www.hp.com/toptools.

E or L Series Netserver to be Managed Install/Configure:
SNMP Service (NT and 2000 servers only)
Software: Microsoft Windows CD.
Netserver Agents (includes Instant TopTools) *

* Netserver Agents and Instant TopTools can be installed either at each server, or pushed over the
network from a network client. Instant TopTools does not need Netserver Agents to work, but does
need them to receive additional system I/O, storage, predictive, and NIC events.
