Required Hardware and Software
The following hardware and software components are necessary for the proper
installation and operation of HP TopTools Auto Alert and Instant TopTools on
both your HP NetServer and PC console.
Minimum HP NetServer Hardware Required
• Any HP NetServer E Series (E 45 and above) or L Series system connected
to the network
• 10 MB of unused disk space
Minimum HP NetServer Software Required
• For HP TopTools Auto Alert and Integrated Device Manager: HP
NetServer Agents software (version 3.3 or later) on the HP NetServer
Navigator CD-ROM (included with your server). You need CD-ROM
version L.18.20 or later for your L Series NetServers; M.01.00 or later for
the E Series. Or, for both L and E Series, you can also download the latest
HP NetServer Agents installation software from the Internet at:
http://www.hp.com/toptools
• Network operating system server software (installed and running), either of
the following:
à Novell NetWare v3.2, v4.11 (with Support Pack v4.0), v4.2 and v5.1,
IntranetWare v4.11 (including SMP, excluding SFT III), or
IntranetWare for Small Business v1.10. (Instant TopTools is not
supported on NetServers running Novell NetWare or IntranetWare.
However, SNMP agents will send alerts about those NetServers to
TopTools Auto Alert, and alerts and device information to a
management server running HP TopTools Integrated Device Manager)
à Microsoft Windows NT Server software v4.0, or Windows 2000 Server
software, or BackOffice Small Business Server v4.0 (all with Service
Pack 3 or higher)
à Microsoft Internet Explorer (2.0, 4.x or later) browser to use Instant
TopTools on a NetServer running Windows NT or 2000
à Netscape Navigator or Communicator (4.x or later) browser to use
Instant TopTools on a NetServer running Windows NT or 2000
à SCO UNIX version 5.0 (Instant TopTools is not supported on
NetServers running SCO UNIX. However, SNMP agents will send
