Support Notes for Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4.7 for HP Integrity Servers
3 Recommendations, Limitations, and Known Issues
This chapter contains recommendations, limitations, and known issues with the use of RHEL
ES 4.7 on HP Integrity servers.
Recommendations
The following recommendations from HP for using RHEL ES 4.7 on HP Integrity servers should
be observed.
• Drivers for Fibre Channel cards
HP recommends that you install HP provided drivers for use with HP-branded Fibre Channel
cards. To obtain the HP drivers for these cards:
1. Go to the HP website at http://www.hp.com and select Software & Driver Downloads.
2. Under the section Support for your products, perform the following substeps:
a. Click the Download drivers and software (and firmware) option.
b. In the product field, enter the model number of your Fibre Channel card (for
example, A6826A).
c. Press Enter.
3. Select Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (Itanium) from the list of operating systems.
4. Locate the necessary driver kit from the categorized list displayed, and then click the
adjacent Download button to download the tar file.
NOTE: All drivers for a given brand of adapter are contained in one driver kit. For
example, all drivers for Qlogic adapters are contained in one driver kit.
5. Unpack the driver files in the kit. For example, the following command could be used:
# tar zxvf hp_qla2x00-date.tar.gz
6. Change to the directory that was created in the previous step.
7. Install the driver:
# ./INSTALL
• Upgrading from earlier RHEL versions
The RHEL 4 Installation Guide and Release Notes, included with the Red Hat Linux product,
contain upgrading instructions and suggestions. To locate these documents, see “Installation
Documentation” (page 8).
