Support Notes for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 for HP Integrity Servers

This does not cause a system crash or affect system operation, but it produces alarming
kernel messages.
25. The HP Array Configuration Utility Command Line Interface (hpacucli) create commands
can cause kernel panics. The hpacucli command is used to create logical drives in the
MSA disk arrays.
A fix will be applied to future versions of the CCISS driver. Until a fix is available, HP
recommends that you use the ORCA.EFI utility to create volumes. For information about
using Option ROM Configuration for Arrays (ORCA) EFI utility, see the HP Array
Configuration Utility User Guide, availalble at:
http://docs.hp.com
26. The driver load and disk device file name order during installation may not be the same as
that for the final installed system. To avoid mount errors, use either LVM or disk labels.
27. HP does not recommend using the HP Integrity Integrated Lights-Out (iLO 2) remote text
console or virtual KVM (vKVM) console when installing Linux. Use either a telnet or ssh
text console instead.
28. When installing using a graphics console, at least the Base group of packages must be selected
for IPv4 networking to be operational. If installing using the text-based console, there is no
package group that has to be selected for IPv4 networking to be operational.
29. After installing the operating system, if a message similar to the following is displayed, you
will need to take action.
Loading.: Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS Load of Red Hat Enterprise
Linux AS failed: Not Found Press any key to continue
To resolve this problem, enter the following commands:
# reconnect -r
# map -r
Then reboot. This can be done by exiting the shell (using the exit command) and reselecting
the EFI boot menu entry.
30. To create a system that can boot either RHEL 4.5 or RHEL 5.0, the RHEL 4.5 system must
be installed and configured before installing the RHEL 5.0 system.
