What’s In this Version
Serviceguard Extension for SAP on Linux (SGeSAP/LX) Version 1.0 is
now supported on both Red Hat and SuSE Linux and provides support
for the following Serviceguard package types:
• db packages: This package type provides HA failover capabilities for
single-instance ORACLE or SAPDB based RDBMS technology. It is
usually enhanced with HA NFS service.
• ci packages: This package type provides HA failover capabilities for
SAP WAS Central Instances and associated SAP processes.
• dbci packages: This package type is a combination of a db package
and a ci package and provides HA failover capabilities for SAP
Central System installations based on ORACLE or SAPDB RDBMS
technology. This package type is usually enhanced with HA NFS
services.
Supported configurations are:
• Mutual failover solutions using a two node cluster with one db and
one ci package.
• Idle standby solutions using a dbci package that may fail over to an
idle host.
• Failover of a dbci package to a host that has one or more additional
SAP Application Servers installed that need to be shut down during
failover to free up resources to the failing application.
• Failover of a dbci package to a host that has one or more additional
SAP components installed that need to be shut down during failover
to free up resources for the failing application. This includes
scenarios that shut down SAP consolidation and/or development
systems.
It is also possible to create a separate Serviceguard package that
exclusively provides HA NFS services.
Restart of all redundant, non-packaged SAP application servers can
optionally be configured as part of the package startup.
