1 Support for Oracle Linux and Unbreakable Enterprise
Kernel
This support note provides the additional installation and support information for the use of Oracle
Linux and Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (also called as UEK) on HP DL980 servers.
This chapter provides the support and certification information related to Oracle Linux and
Unbreakable Kernel on HP DL980 servers.
Oracle Linux and UEK Certification and Support Information
Oracle Linux includes two kernels:
• Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel tracks mainline Linux kernel closely and offers the latest features
and tested performance and stability.
• The Red Hat Compatible Kernel compiled directly from Red Hat Enterprise Linux source. HP

Ensure support for Oracle on DL980
HP recommends that you review the Oracle Linux (also called as OL) and Unbreakable Enterprise
Kernel certification and support matrix for your HP DL980 servers prior to downloading OL from
the Oracle Linux website. You should ensure that the distribution of OL that you want to install is
both certified and supported on your server.
Use the following steps to review information about the supported and certified distributions of the
OL distributions for HP OL servers:
1. Go to the Oracle Linux certification and support matrix:

2. On the Oracle Linux link, locate the server name of interest, and then click the link.
Detailed product information, downloads, documentation, and specific certification information is
provided in a categorized listing.
