Installing the HP OVO Agent on the Linux Operating System
The HP OVO agent software must be installed and run on all target hosts prior to installing the
SPIs. The HP OVO 7.5 agent is provided in the form of a set of binary files for the managed nodes
on Linux. The agent's binary files are located in the following directory:
< installation directory>\Data\shared\Packages\Linux
For example:
C: \Program Files\HP OpenView\Data\shared\Packages\Linux
To copy these files to the managed nodes and install the HP OVO agent, refer to the
README_Linux_Agent file.
Deploying and Configuring SPI Instrumentation
The target hosts on which the HP OVO agent is installed must be added as managed nodes in
the HP OVO Management Server before SPI instrumentation is deployed. It is important to
remember to add the following as tools of the new nodes when adding the managed nodes: SPI
for Application Servers, SPI for Servlet Engine, DBSPI for MySQL, and CDS SPIs.
Once the managed nodes are added, perform the following steps to deploy and configure SPI
instrumentation.
1. Right-click one of the managed nodes and select All Tasks > Deploy instrumentation.
This deploys the SPI-related scripts to the target server.
2. Next, select the All Tasks > Launch Tool as shown in Figure 2.
