The setup takes a few
seconds. When it finishes,
check that the control
panel display shows the
default name of the server
on the first line, and the
second line alternates
between the date, the
message "no alerts," and
the IP address.
Your HD Server 4000 is
now ready to use.
Use the HD Server
Admin tool if you want
to complete optional
steps such as:
• adding users and
groups
• adding shares
• setting permissions
• setting advanced
network settings
• configuring local backup (if optional tape drive is installed)
Using Windows Explorer
on client computers, map
the server to the client
computers, or have users
do this task themselves.

At a PC workstation on
the network, open a
web browser and type
http://
<IP address>
The installation wizard
(at right) appears, and
only appears during
this first installation.
Follow the instructions
on the screen.
When you finish, the
HD Server Admin tool
opens.
