Added Method for Upgrading Firmware
Another faster method has been added for updating the firmware
(affecting chapter 9 in the
User’s Guide
). Once you have firmware
version 5.20 or later on your server, you will be able to update in
this new way thereafter.
This can be done using Windows (SMB), Novell NetWare (NCP), or
UNIX (NFS), but not using AppleTalk (AFP). FTP is not needed.
This can be done anywhere you have the root mapped to a drive.
1. Obtain a copy of the firmware update file from your HP-autho-
rized dealer or from HP’s Electronic Support services.
2. Copy the firmware update file to the server’s
\system\flash\
folder in the
root
or
sys
folder.
The file is then quickly copied to the server’s Flash memory.
The
Status
indicator
flashes yellow
.
The server automatically restarts with the new server firm-
ware. The
Status
indicator
flashes green
until the restart is
completed, and then it is
solid green
.
CAUTION!

Do not press the
Power
switch or otherwise interrupt the
transfer, or the server may become inoperative.
Windows Time Synchronization
The server’s time is now periodically synchronized with the domain
controller when it is configured. This takes place automatically.

(as a third alternative to

). Cached discs are listed. You can
manage the disk space by deleting specific cached volumes. You can
archive volumes.
