This control panel display is normal when starting up the
server for the first time (or following
Reset Defaults
). Respond
as described in step 5 on page 2-9.
Gateway, Subnet or IP invalid
Either the IP address currently set is illegal (000.000.000.000)
or there is an inconsistency between the IP address, subnet
mask, or gateway settings. Respond as described in the Note
below step 10 on page 2-11.
FAIL
Appearing in Message or
Unchanging or Frozen Message
Try a power cycle (see page 11-18). If the same error occurs, the
server module has failed. Call HP support per appendix A,
Getting Support for a replacement part. To replace it, see
Replace the Server Module on page 11-31.
FAULT

Press
to restart the server. If that does not work and
FAULT
appears again, then try the alternate firmware image: Begin
with step 2 of the procedure Switching to the Backup Image
on page 10-3.
If that does not work and

appears again, then the server

Support for a replacement part. To replace it, see Replace the
Server Module on page 11-31.
BAD FW IMAGE
TRY ALTERNATE
Power off and start up the server with the alternative firmware
image. (The alternative version is stored in Flash memory.
Once you have updated the firmware version, the alternate is
the previous version.) The procedure is the following.
First, switch power off. Wait at least 10 seconds for the disk
drives to stop spinning. Switch power on, and immediately
press the
button and hold until the control panel displays

procedure Switching to the Backup Image on page 10-3.
