Check Status in
HD Server Admin
You can get detailed status of your hardware and file system by
using HD Server Admin (see page 4-3 to 4-4). Use the
[Help]
button,
where available, for full interpretation of any error data displayed.
Status
Æ
Summary
page
Click on each module on the server graphic: the disk drive modules,
the tape module, and the server module (click on the display panel
to select the server module).
If a module is displayed in a (red) fault condition, then that module
is faulty and must be replaced according to instructions in the
section Resolution and Repair Procedures on page 11-17.
Configuration
Æ
Disk Setup
page
Click on each slot for drive status. Click on
Volume C
for volume
status.
If the status of the volume is
Warning
(yellow) and a drive
slot other than the hot spare is
Failed
(red), then file service
will be slow and will no longer provide any redundancy (further
failure protection). Replace the drive as soon as possible. Call
HP support per appendix A, Getting Support for a
replacement part. To replace it, see Replace Disk Drive
Module on page 11-23. After replacing the drive, return to the
Configuration
Æ
Disk Setup
page and
[Expand Volume]
to add
the drive (see page 4-8).
If the status of the volume is
Failed
(red) then files are not
accessible. Replace all drives whose status is
Failed
(red). For
recovery, use the first procedure in the section Disaster:
Lost or Damaged File System on page 11-13.
If the status of the volume is
OK
(green), but the spare is
Failed
(red), file service is not affected. However, if another
drive should fail, the server will be unable to automatically
replace the failed drive with the spare. Replace the spare drive
as soon as possible, as described in the preceding paragraph.
If the status of the volume is
OK
(green) and a drive slot is
Warning
(yellow) , then a problem is detected in the drive
(such as parity errors). The drive remains in use but could fail.
It should be replaced as soon as convenient.
