Switching to the Backup Image
The server’s Flash memory stores two images of firmware. And once
it has been updated with a new firmware image (as described in
“Updating the Server” above), the versions may be different. In case
of failure during an update, you can back up to an older version. It
is also possible to toggle between the two images thereafter.
This procedure simply makes the current firmware version the
alternate one, and makes the alternate one the current one, with
which the server then restarts.
1. Shut down the server. It is easiest to use the control panel as
follows: Press
✔
twice. Use the
▲
or
▼
button to scroll to the
Shutdown Server
parameter. Press
✔
and confirm with
✔
again.
The server will halt and display on the control panel:
2. Press (and release) the
✔
button to restart. Then immediately
press the
▲
button and hold until the control panel displays
Entering Boot Mode
. When you release the
▲
button, the following
will be displayed. Note the scroll symbol
in the first line of the
display.
3. Press
✔
to select this parameter. The character following the
=
sign on the second line is blinking, showing it as the current
selection, and the scroll symbol
is in the second line of the
display. The
=
sign will appear in front of the current setting as
you scroll among the choices. When the alternative image is
displayed (without the
=
sign), press the
✔
button to select it. The
scroll symbol
returns to the first line of the display.
4. Press
✘
to reach the Exit parameter:
5. Press
✔
and confirm with
✔
again, to load the selected version as
the server’s running firmware image. The server restarts.
Note ❏
This operation has an effect on subsequent update operations:
A firmware update (described in “Updating the Server” on
page 10-2) will replace the new alternate image.
