NonStop NS16000 Series Planning Guide (H06.11+)
P-Switch to NonStop S-Series I/O Enclosure Cabling
Each NonStop S-series I/O enclosure uses one port of one PIC in each of the two p-switches for
ServerNet connection. If no IOAM enclosure is installed in the system, up to 24 NonStop S-series
I/O enclosures can be connected to an Integrity NonStop NS16000 series system through these
ServerNet links.
A single fiber-optic cable provides the ServerNet link between an I/O PIC port on both the X and
Y p-switch and the I/O multifunction 2 (IOMF 2) CRUs in a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure. For
cable types and lengths, see “Enterprise Storage System” (page 133).
The cables from the two IOMF 2 CRUs must connect to PICs residing in the same slot number in
both the X and Y p-switch and to the same port number on each PIC.
This illustration shows the cables from the NonStop S-series IOMF 2 CRUs connected to port 1 of
the PICs in slot 4 of the X and Y p-switch, assigning the group number of 11:
