Q: What are some examples of solutions and components of solutions supported by
Insight RS?
A: There are several examples of Insight RS working effectively with HP solutions. These include storage
appliances and clusters such as StoreVirtual / LeftHand and StoreAll / IBRIX, and Converged Systems.
Some of these HP solutions also have business processes to ensure proper case routing at a solution
level even though the Insight RS case is identified at the component level. This document covers some
specific details about coverage of Insight RS with some of the HP Converged Systems solutions
including:
 CloudSystem Matrix
 HP AppSystems for SAP HANA
 HP AppSystem for Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW)

Q: Can I monitor solutions or components of solutions using a Hosting Device outside of
the solution environment?
A: Yes, you can. However, in some cases HP recommends that the Hosting Device operate within the
environment such as with Cloud System Matrix. (See section What components of my HP Converged
Systems will work with Insight RS?)
Referring to Example of Solution and Components, a server within the solution may be designated as the
Insight RS Hosting Device. As an alternative the Hosting Device may be placed outside the solution to
monitor the environment. This may be useful where the solution software stack interferes with Insight RS
or as a convenience to add a solution to an existing Insight RS environment already monitoring a
heterogeneous environment.
Q: Does the Insight RS 7.x Hosting Device need to be on the same server as HP SIM?
A: No. Insight RS 7.x does not need to be on the same server as HP SIM, unless integration between
Insight RS and HP SIM is desired.

Q: What components of my HP Converged Systems will work with Insight RS?
A: For the following three Converged Systems, the following provides specific information about how
Insight RS works in these Converged Systems environments, including what components are monitored
or not monitored and any special installation instructions. :
1. HP CS300 for Microsoft Analytics Platform, previously called HP AppSystem for Microsoft
SQL Server 2012 Parallel Data Warehouse
The HP CS300 for Microsoft Analytics Platform (APS) or HP AppSystem for Microsoft SQL
Server 2012 Parallel Data Warehouse (AppSystem for PDW) is designed through a partnership
between HP and Microsoft. It is a pre-integrated appliance with a specific configuration including
ProLiant DL360p Gen8 servers.
Note: HP Enterprise Data Warehouse Optimized for Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse is not
enabled to support Insight RS, even at the component level. This solution was replaced by
the HP AppSystem for Microsoft PDW in May 2013.
