HP Insight Remote Support 7.0.9 Monitored Devices Configuration Guide
If one or both of these ports are in use, the installation provides an additional configuration screen on which
you can change the port numbers. The SMI-S installer suggests port 60000 if that port is not in use. SMI-S
retains port 5988 if it does not conflict with another port number. SMI-S uses these ports when the HPīCIM
Object Manager (CIMOM) process starts.
Note: This screen appears only if a port conflict is detected, which is why HP recommends
installing HP SIM before installing Command View.
The following figure shows an example of the SMI-S installation on an Insight RS Hosting Device that
already has HP SIM installed with WMI Mapper:

After the ports are set, you can verify them by executing the netstat command:
C:\ netstat āanb >netstat.txt
The following output appears:
TCP 0.0.0.0:5988 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 1712 [JavaWrapper.exe]
TCP 0.0.0.0:5989 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 460 [WMIServer.exe]
TCP 0.0.0.0:60000 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 1712 [JavaWrapper.exe]
In this example, SMI-S is set up to use ports 5988 and 60000.
To reset the port numbers if P6000 Command View is already installed:
