HP Insight Remote Support 7.0.9 Monitored Devices Configuration Guide
To be supported by Insight Remote Support, the monitored device must have P6000 Command View
installed (version 9.4 or later) and be managing at least one array. SMI-S is delivered with the P6000
Command View installation and is required because it serves as the communication path between Insight
Remote Support and the array, using CIMOM for WBEM communications.
If the required P6000 Command View components are not installed, see "Documentation for P6000
Command View" on page 156 for more details.
Caution: Removing SMI-S from a host system also forces the removal of Command View for
Tape Libraries (TL). The version of Command View TL must match the firmware used in the
library.
If the version of SMI-S installed by Command View TL is older than the one being used by
P6000 Command View, then install or upgrade P6000 Command View after Command View TL
to avoid a conflict.
Additionally, the credentials used by each software application are overwritten by the other
when it installs. Therefore, use the same account for both.
Fulfilling P6000 Command View System and Access Requirements
Access requirements:
l Supported versions of P6000 Command View use a secure logon (SSL) design.
l A Microsoft Windows account with the correct group privilege is required to access P6000 Command
View.
Installing P6000 Command View adds two new group privileges to a system: HP Storage Admins (write
access) and HP Storage Users (read access). P6000 Command View credentials are required when
setting up Insight Remote Support, so verify that you have this information.

Understanding HP SIM Port Setting Conflicts
The default port assignment of 5989 for WBEM/WMI and SMI-S has led to conflicts with HP SIM on the
Hosting Device. The ability of Insight RS to interface with WBEM indications, WMI Mapper, and inclusion
of HP-UX systems to the environment add more complexity to configuring the environment. HP-UX is
hard coded to use port 5989. The following sections describe changes that address the port assignment
issues and provide a new solution for configuring Insight Remote Support with P6000 Command View.
Note: If your Insight Remote Support environment is already configured and working, you may
choose to leave settings as they are and implement the following steps only if you experience
related problems.
The installation sequence for HP SIM and P6000 Command View on a Hosting Device affects the default
ports settings. The best practice is to install HP SIM first and allow WMI Mapper to use the default of port
