NonStop-specific tasks required to start using Insight Remote Support Advanced. The process for
getting started with Insight Remote Support Advanced in the NonStop environment involves:
Planning:
— Ensure that all “Requirements (page 6) for using Insight Remote Support Advanced in
the NonStop environment have been met.
— Before starting a migration to Insight Remote Support Advanced, contact your local
NonStop account team. Your account team will contact the Insight Remote Support
Advanced team to schedule, plan, install, configure and test HP SIM and the NonStop
components.
Installation and Configuration of HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced. This process
includes some NonStop-Specific Tasks to be performed at specific points in the process,
including the disabling of the OSM Notification Director (ND), as described under “Insight
Remote Support Advanced Migration Scenarios” (page 17).
Integration and testing the last two steps of the NonStop-Specific Tasks confirm that remote
support is in place by creating a test dial-out and contacting the GCSC to register and ensure
that integration with the problem reporting system is complete.
Requirements
This section lists the hardware and software requirements for both the Windows-based Central
Management Server (CMS) on which HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced will be installed
and for the NonStop systems that will be monitored by HP SIM and Insight Remote Support
Advanced.
CMS Hardware Requirements
HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced are installed on a Windows-based PC referred to
as CMS. HP supports, but does not recommend, using a qualified NonStop system console (NSC)
as a CMS for HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced. For examples of recommended and
alternative configuration diagrams, see “Console Configuration Examples (page 7).
For an NSC to be used as a CMS for HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced, it must:
Be running Windows 2008 or Windows 2003 Server
Have at least 4 GB of memory

The following incoming ports on the CMS must be open specifically for HP SIM and Insight Remote
Support Advanced. (If you are using a NonStop system console as a CMS, see the NonStop System
Console Installer Guide for information on port and other requirements not related to HP SIM and
Insight Remote Support Advanced.)
