Insight Remote Support Advanced for NonStop
1 Introduction and Requirements
HP Insight Remote Support Advanced is qualified for NonStop systems, including HP Integrity
NonStop BladeSystems, HP Integrity NonStop NS-series systems, and HP NonStop S-series systems.
Insight Remote Support Advanced is the go-forward remote support solution for NonStop systems,
replacing both modem and HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) remote support solutions.
Insight Remote Support Advanced is a plug-in to HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM). It enhances
HP SIM with intelligent event diagnosis and automatic, secure submission of hardware event
notifications to HP support, including acknowledgment and status.
HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced are installed on a Windows-based Central
Management Server (CMS) (see “Requirements” (page 6)); ideally, a central server to which
incidents from all NonStop and other HP platforms in the customer data center are sent. This
provides a single pane-of-glass for the remote support of the whole data center.
The diagram below illustrates the process flow for how serviceable events are delivered to HP
support using Insight Remote Support Advanced. OSM performs problem diagnosis on the NonStop
system and creates incident reports (IRs), which are passed along to the CMS via WEBES. IRs are
displayed as events in HP SIM and are forwarded via Insight Remote Support Advanced to HP
support (without using the OSM Notification Director).
