Insight Remote Support Advanced for NonStop
step is to reduce significantly the time it takes to discover a NonStop system. If you are not
running HP SIM on the maintenance LAN, skip to step 4.
To disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP on both NICs of the primary system console:
a. From the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area
Connection 1.
b. In the “Local Area Connection 1 Status” dialog's General tab, click Properties.
c. From the window under “This connection uses the following items,” select Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP), then click the Properties button.
d. From the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties” dialog box, click the Advanced button.
e. From the “Advanced TCP/IP Settings” dialog box, select the WINS tab, select “Disable
NetBIOS over TCP/IP” and click OK.
f. Repeat these steps a. through e. for the second NIC but in step a., select Local Area
Connection 2 instead of Connection 1.
4. There are two settings in the WEBES DESTA.REG file that must be set appropriately to ensure
NonStop compatibility. From a DOS prompt on the CMS, perform the following commands
to specify the required values for the wbem.useip and wbem.destname parameters:
• desta dri set wbem.useip t
• desta dri set wbem.destname
To make the changes to the DESTA.REG file take effect, perform the following commands to
start and stop the DESTA service:
• net stop desta_service
• net start desta_service
5. Either disable the OSM Notification Director (ND) on the NonStop system console, if it will
not be used to monitor any NonStop systems – or – configure the individual NonStop system
as "Not a Dial-out Point," as described under “Insight Remote Support Advanced Migration
Scenarios” (page 17).
6. Configure OSM on each NonStop system to be monitored by Insight Remote Support Advanced
– one or more settings must be configured in your OSMCONF file, depending on your
hardware platform and LAN configuration. The OSMCONF file is located on a NonStop
system at $SYSTEM.ZSERVICE.OSMCONF. For information on creating and using an
OSMCONF file, see the OSM Migration and Configuration Guide.
After disabling the OSM ND, add the appropriate parameters(s) (depending on the type of
NonStop system) to your OSMCONF file in order for each NonStop system to be monitored
by Insight Remote Support Advanced and to enable dial-out to Insight Remote Support
Advanced/WEBES.
• For NonStop NS-series or NonStop S-series systems, add:
IR_Alert=YES
UseSSL=ON
• For NonStop BladeSystems, add:
IR_Alert=YES
If the CMS used for Insight Remote Support Advanced is outside of the dedicated maintenance
LAN, you must specify stack parameter(s) for OSM in your OSMCONF as follows:
stack = <TCPIP process name>
For example:
stack = $ZTC00
stack = $ZTC01
