1 Introduction and Requirements HP Insight Remote Support Advanced is qualified for NonStop systems, including HP Integrity NonStop BladeSystems, HP Integrity NonStop NS-series systems, and HP NonStop S-series systems. Insight Remote Support Advanced is the go-forward remote support solution for NonStop systems, replacing both modem and HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) remote support solutions. Insight Remote Support Advanced is a plug-in to HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM).
document is a supplemental guide to the documentation for those products, outlining the sequence of steps, providing links to those documents, and describing when and how to perform the additional NonStop-specific tasks required to start using Insight Remote Support Advanced.
CMS Software Requirements Product Minimum Version Notes HP SIM 6.3 or later HP SIM includes Remote Support Software Manager (RSSWM), which upon initialization, installs Insight Remote Support Advanced and the compulsory component packages. Insight Remote Support A.05.60 or later Advanced Downloaded and installed by RSSWM. NOTE: OSM requires that a supported version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) be installed on the console.
The example pictured below shows an alternative to the recommended configuration whereby Insight Remote Support Advanced is installed and run from both the primary and backup NonStop system consoles.
2 Installation and Configuration of HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced This section includes both pointers to the HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced documents for installing and configuring HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced and a list of NonStop-Specific Tasks to be performed at particular points during the installation and configuration process.
step is to reduce significantly the time it takes to discover a NonStop system. If you are not running HP SIM on the maintenance LAN, skip to step 4. To disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP on both NICs of the primary system console: a. From the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection 1. b. In the “Local Area Connection 1 Status” dialog's General tab, click Properties. c.
NOTE: When using T0682 ACM or earlier on G-series, only the first stack entry in the OSMCONF file is used to deliver incident reports and alarms to the CMS. You need to make sure the first stack entry is valid if communication between OSM and the CMS is not over the default maintenance LAN stacks $ZTCP0 and $ZTCP1. After editing your OSMCONF file, you must restart the following OSM server processes (if running on the NonStop system) for the changes to take effect: • $ZZKRN.#OSM-CIMOM • $ZZKRN.
NOTE: This needs to be done once for each NonStop system when using HP Insight Remote Support Advanced and/or most Nonstop Essentials products – it is done automatically for NonStop Cluster Essentials. So, if you have already installed NonStop Cluster Essentials or performed these steps while configuring the system for one of those other products, you do not need to repeat them as part of Insight Remote Support Advanced.
HP SIM. That page is accessed from the Tools & Links tab on each NonStop system's home page (as pictured below): • Under System Information > Identification: enter NonStop in the Product number field. • Under Contract and Warranty Information > Entitlement Information: — System Country code: select the appropriate country from the drop-down menu.
with the GCSC's CRG service – perform the Test Incident Report Delivery Paths action, located under the System object in the OSM Service Connection. TIP: To access the OSM Service Connection from within HP SIM, go to the home page for the NonStop system, select the Tools & Links tab, and click on the OSM Service Connection link. a. b. c. 14 In the OSM Service Connection, select the System object in the tree pane, right-click and select Actions.
d. Select No to the “Delete the failed path” question and click OK. e. Upon successful completion of the action, the State of the action will be reported as “Passed.” The action triggers a Periodic Incident Report. If the system is being monitored by Insight Remote Support Advanced, HP SIM displays an event on the Event Tab indicating that the NonStop system incident has been reported.
1. 2. 3. Log onto the NSC/CMS with the same account used to install Insight Remote Support Advanced. Enter the command desta whc off from a Windows command prompt window. When run successfully, the following message appears in the CMS window: • Webes Health Check end to end testing is now disabled. • Webes Health Check logging is now disabled. • Webes Health Check SMTP notification is now disabled. Without WEBES HealthCheck being enabled, there will not be WEBES email notifications of WEBES failures.
3 Insight Remote Support Advanced Migration Scenarios This section describes four scenarios for migrating from using the OSM Notification Director to Insight Remote Support Advanced. When directed to, during step 5 of the NonStop-Specific Tasks, follow the steps listed under the scenario that matches your existing console environment and configuration. NOTE: Either Insight Remote Support Advanced or the OSM Notification Director, but not both, must be configured to monitor a NonStop system.
4. 3 procedure and repeat steps 1-3 for each of the NonStop systems to be migrated to Insight Remote Support Advanced. If all NonStop systems have been migrated to Insight Remote Support Advanced, follow steps 1–3 under Scenario 1 to disable the OSM ND. However, if some NonStop systems will continue to be monitored by the ND, do not perform those steps to disable and remove the ND. Scenario 4: You are using the OSM ND to monitor multiple NonStop systems from two NSCs (a primary and backup NSC).
4 Ongoing Operational Considerations To ensure uninterrupted remote support services through HP SIM and Insight Remote Support Advanced, be sure to perform the following tasks, as needed: • “Update Password in HP SIM” (page 19) • “Extend WEBES Expiration Date” (page 19) • “Remove Incident Report Delivery Paths for Failed CMS or CMS to be Replaced” (page 20) Update Password in HP SIM Whenever you change the password for the user created (under step 7 of NonStop-Specific Tasks) to establish the WBEM communic

A Description of OSM Event and Data Flow This section lists some typical Insight Remote Support Advanced activities, describing the subsequent OSM subsystem events in the service log ($ZLOG) and data flow that can be used to verify or check the status of each activity.
NonStop System Configured for Insight Remote Support Advanced When a NonStop system has been configured for Insight Remote Support Advanced (as described in NonStop-Specific Tasks): • WEBES subscribes for OSM incident reports. • OSM receives the indication subscription from WEBES along with a query for HP_AlertIndication and the WEBES destination. • OSM generates an event 1146 with the trace message “Indication Subscription CREATING.
• OSM generates an event 1146 with the trace message “Indication Subscription CREATING.” The event detail contains the WEBES destination, that destination being a URL containing 7906, the CMS port used by WEBES to receive incident reports, in the format of WBEM events, from OSM. Trace Subject: "Indication Subscription CREATING (Primary)" Trace Message:- "Subscription: CIM_IndicationSubscription.Filter=R"CIM_IndicationFilter.CreationClassName=\"" "CIM_IndicationFilter\",Name=\"HPWEBES_16.107.145.
NOTE: OSM automatically deletes failed delivery paths that have persisted for 10 days. You can also delete them sooner, as described in “Remove Incident Report Delivery Paths for Failed CMS or CMS to be Replaced” (page 20). To confirm that a Periodic IR was successfully received by the HP support center, there will be an auto-closed Genesis case for each successful path that was reported in that Periodic IR.
the first CMS on which Insight Remote Support Advanced was configured – before trying the backup path.) If the Problem Incident Report is successfully delivered to the HP Support Center, a case is opened in Genesis for that problem. If one delivery path fails, an “Incident Report Delivery Failure” alarm is created in the OSM Service Connection. OSM generates an OSM event 1144 for this alarm.

has been removed. You can confirm which path was deleted in the OSM event 1146 with the trace message “Indication Subscription DELETING,” as described above.
B Optional Configuration of Automatic Incident Report Delivery Path Test and Periodic IR Creation OSM automatically runs the Incident Report Delivery Path Test periodically (according to a specified interval) and sends a Periodic Incident Report to each configured CMS. The results of the test are displayed in the event 1102 or 1103 as well as in alarms and dialouts, if OSM is not able to send the Periodic Incident Report through one of the paths.
C Fallback In the event you wish to fall back from Insight Remote Support Advanced to using the OSM Notification Director, perform the following tasks as appropriate (depending on whether you deleted or simply disabled the ND during the migration to Insight Remote Support Advanced): • Either stop the HP Systems Insight Manager service, if you will not be using HP SIM at all (Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services), or just delete the individual NonStop system(s) from HP SIM, if you will con
