Operations Guide
Chapter 3: Understanding and Using Unreachable Device Notification (UDN) Service
About the UDN Homepage
The UDN Homepage displays a status box that displays how many devices are configured for
UDN monitoring and whether those devices are enabled or disabled, reachable or unreachable, or in
an unknown state. This quick assessment is helpful to know the status of your enterprise.
The UDN Homepage allows you to access additional UDN configuration pages. Specifically, the
UDN service allows you to:
l View the current reachability status of monitored systems.
l Disable UDN monitoring.
l Manage the currently monitored systems.
l Configure the specifications of the UDN Service.
l Access a log of incidents submitted to HP.
Note: This option is only available to entitled customers whose HP Account Team has
enabled submission to HP.
l Determine the health of the UDN Service.
The status bar at the top of the Unreachable Device Notification window indicates the status of the
Unreachable Device monitoring service. When disabled, no managed systems are monitored by
UDN. To enable or disable UDN monitoring, click either Enable or Disable as appropriate.
Managing Systems with UDN
By default all Remote Support Eligible Systems (those supportable by Insight Remote Support
Advanced) in your network are added to Unreachable Device Notification with monitoring disabled.
Using the Manage Devices option on the Unreachable Device Notification window, you can enable
or disable Unreachable Device monitoring of both Remote Support Eligible and non-eligible
