Appendix A: Insight Remote Support Advanced Packages
Event Log Monitoring Collector (ELMC) on the CMS
The ELMC provides error condition detection for the event log for the CMS and communicates these
events to the WEBES process also hosted on the CMS for analysis. ELMC is required on the CMS for
Remote Support to function because the DESTA_Service Windows Service has an explicit dependency
on the ELMC Windows Service. ELMC provides the same software functionality as the WCCProxy
legacy software. ELMC is required for the CMS and is installed with WEBES.
This is the depot for supporting other ProLiant managed systems; the ELMC component to manage the
CMS itself is installed with WEBES.
Note: ELMC is also required for specific managed system types. Please see "Event Log Monitoring
Collector (ELMC) for Managed Systems" on the next page for more information.
Multi-Vendor and Application Adapter (MVAA)
MVAA replaces the Management Platform Synchronizer. It enables synchronization of events between
HP Insight Remote Support Advanced and HP Operations Manager. MVAA extends product support to
select multivendor hardware and enables select SAP monitoring services.
Remote Support Network Component (RSNC)
HP Remote Support Network Component (RSNC) enhances Insight Remote Support Advanced by
adding capabilities for network support. This suite of network discovery and diagnostic tools provides
inventory reports, interconnect device configuration backup facility and up-to-date network
documentation.
RSNC requires a network services support agreement for Network Environment Support or Network
Availability Services.
Unreachable Device Notification
Unreachable Device Notification (UDN) performs reachability monitoring of HP customers devices and
provides notifications of unreachable managed systems to HP Support Center and appropriate personnel
at the customer site.
Components Installed on the Managed Systems
Some managed system types require additional software to be installed for Insight Remote Support
Advanced to function. The following sections highlight the software that can be downloaded to the CMS
through RSSWM and then delivered to the managed systems. Note that not all software that some
managed system types require can be obtained through RSSWM, so please refer to the Insight Remote
Support Advanced Managed Systems Configuration Guide for complete details about each managed
system type and their software requirements.
