Chapter 5: Remote Support Configuration Collector Services
l Data Services tab
This window displays the types of managed systems and devices currently supported by the RSCC
and the type of RS Collections available.
n SAN Devices: configuration collections are available for supported systems.
n Servers Systems: for entitled customers, configuration, availability, and performance collections are
available.
Note: By default configuration collection and Availability Collection tasks are created with
weekly schedules in HP SIM. Performance Collections are not scheduled by default. To run or
schedule the Performance Collection task or to modify the configuration collection or Availability
Collection task schedules, modify the task through Tasks → View All Scheduled Tasks.
n Storage Devices: configuration collections are available for supported devices.
n Network Devices: configuration collections are available for supported devices.
For each supported collection type, subpages are accessible through links. In the subpages you will
view details and configure global settings for configuration collection tasks run on member devices of
HP SIM system collections listed under the Insight Remote Support Services entry in the left menu
of HP SIM.
Additionally, with HP-UX managed systems, you can customize timeouts for individual RSCC tasks
that are run during a configuration collection. In the Data Services subpages you will enable or disable
particular tasks or services associated with running an configuration collection.
l SAN Services tab
This is the window where you configure connection protocols and account access settings for
individual devices associated with HP SIM system collections (if any have been created) listed under
the SAN Configuration Collection entry in the left menu of HP SIM. You must pre-configure protocol
and account access settings that are be applied to multiple devices in a listed SAN Configuration
Collection.
l Server Services tab
In this page you enable or disable RSCC for individual server systems. The servers listed here reflect
those listed under the Configuration Collections and Advanced Collections entries in the left menu
of HP SIM.
Note: The SAN Services, Server Services, and Storage Services tabs provide the ability to
check the last set of data sent to HP for support. You do this by clicking the click here link in the
window that appears when you hover over the icon in the CC column. This will prompt your web
browser to access a .zip file.
How the zip file is opened, saved, or accessed depends on your type of web browser, its settings,
and the default application on your system to handle the .zip file format. The contents of the last
sent collection will be in the .zip file. However, if the last sent collection was more than 60 days
in the past, the cache that hosts the .zip file will have been cleared and you will not be able to
retrieve the data.
