Central Management Server Configuration Guide
Chapter 4: Configuring Information for Managed Systems
Configuring and Applying WBEM Credentials for
Supported Managed Systems
This section is relevant if you are monitoring any HP-UX managed systems or monitoring Integrity Linux or
Integrity Windows managed systems with WBEM protocols from the CMS.
If you are monitoring EVAs with WBEM, additional steps are required. The information for EVA devices is
addressed in the Insight Remote Support Advanced Managed Systems Configuration Guide.
Important: When monitoring managed system using WBEM credentials, if and when you change the
username/password, whether done automatically, if the credentials age-out or expire, or if you change
them manually as part of maintenance, you must modify those credentials in HP SIM on the CMS to
continue monitoring your managed system.
Complete the following steps to configure and apply the appropriate WBEM credentials for your managed
systems:
1. In the HP SIM user interface, select Options → Protocol Setting → Global Protocol Settings.
2. Verify that the Enable WBEM box is checked, and then click the Global Credentials link to go to
that screen.
3. In the Global Credentials screen add all the WBEM username and password values required to
connect to the WBEM Providers installed on the managed servers and all the SNMP community
strings needed to connect to the SNMP Agents installed on the managed servers to be monitored.
You may enter as many WBEM username and password combinations and as many SNMP
community strings as needed by clicking Add. Then, click OK.
